How This Calculator Works

This calculator computes exact dollar amounts for every federal, state, and utility incentive that applies to your project. Unlike generic incentive lists, we use your specific project size, cost, and state to calculate real numbers.

Federal incentives are computed from IRS-published rates: 30% ITC for solar and battery (through 2032), up to $7,500 for qualifying EVs, 30% up to $2,000 for heat pumps, and 30% up to $1,200 for weatherization.

State incentives include tax credits (with state-specific caps), sales tax exemptions (using actual state tax rates), property tax exemptions (using state average effective rates), rebate programs, and SREC/REC markets where active.

ITC basis adjustment: If you receive a rebate from a non-governmental utility that reduces your system cost, we reduce the federal ITC basis accordingly per IRS guidance.

Solar system costs are estimated from NREL/LBNL Tracking the Sun data (state-specific $/W). Battery costs use national averages (~$950/kWh). Solar production estimates use typical state yields. Property tax rates are state-level averages from Census Bureau data.
